Our approach to Design
Youth First has developed the K-BOOM approach based on the Human Center Design and the appreciative inquiry that allows us to analyze and diagnose the real needs of young people to finally develop programs adapted to them, test them and to scale them.
Definition Phase
This first phase consists of defining the hypotheses on the problem of young people to be addressed and the vision of success to be achieved through the program that will be implemented. This phase will lead to the definition of the vision of change that the Youth First program wants to put in place, the specific objectives of the program as well as the initial hypotheses on youth issues.
Diagnostic phase
The second phase consists of the first field trip and contacts program participants to confirm the assumptions made during the first phase. This involves acquiring more information about the topics covered by the program and having a better understanding of the actual situation and particular context of the participants. This phase also involves identifying gaps in knowledge about program participants that may hinder the achievement of the program's vision of success.
Design thinking phase focused on young people
This phase focuses on the design of programs and solutions to implement to address the issues identified during the first and second phases.
Test and Pilot Phase
After the validation of the final design of the interventions, a piloting phase of the program will be implemented to confirm the effectiveness and quality of the programs developed.
Assessment and capitalization of the achievements
This phase consists of evaluating the achievement of the program's vision of success and the capitalization of learning through the development of a monitoring-evaluation mechanism based on the randomized controlled trial method. This phase aims at evaluating the effect of the test interventions during the previous phase and identifying the causes of the changes observed at the level of the Participants.
Communication
The final phase of the methodological process of Youth First is about the development of a communication plan around the program developed to ensure knowledge sharing and promote the program in order to influence stakeholders and policy makers in the adoption of good practice of the program or the establishment of a national policy and program.
